One of its main rivals, Nintendo (NTDOF) has also built its business on being a family brand. Characters like Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong appeal to all ages and will soon be part of Disney’s biggest theme park rival as Super Nintendo World joins Comcast’s (CMCSA) Universal Studios.
The move will pair two of Disney’s rivals with the Mouse House, giving Universal Studios its biggest addition since the company’s huge bet on Harry Potter. Disney. however, does not take this new threat lightly, so he takes on Nintendo in an area where the company is a market leader.

Disney and Nintendo ready to fight
While Disney has been pretty egregious in its efforts to take down “Mario Kart,” that doesn’t change the fact that the two companies will soon be locked in an epic theme park battle. Super Nintendo World will be a “land” at Universal Studios Hollywood and a major part of Universal’s Epic Universe, its upcoming theme park in Florida.
The star attraction of Super Nintendo’s World will be a live-action version of “Mario Kart”. No American version of the park has yet opened, but the first Super Nintendo World has already opened in Japan. And, although it’s only planned to have two rides – one based on “Mario Kart” and “Yoshi’s Adventure”, an attraction for all ages – the entire park is interactive.
Guests will wear special “Power-up Bands” so they can experience what is essentially a live version of the universe first created in the original “Super Mario Bros.” Game. Essentially, Super Nintendo World gives Universal a next-level response to Disney’s “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge,” which could push the Mouse House to make more additions to Disney World and Disneyland.
